Healing Words
During her illness, Sharyn found that one of the most important things she could do was to look to the healing promises in God’s Word. We have found that standing on the Word is absolutely essential to health and healing. Why? Because it tells us so!
Speaking out words of faith increases our level of faith – if you’re finding that hard to do, remember what Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans:
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”
(Romans 10:17)
His Word brings healing and deliverance-
Proverbs 4:20-22 says this –
“give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
Do not let them depart from your sight;
Keep them in the midst of your heart.
For they are life to those who find them
And health to all their body.”
Dwelling and meditating on the Word brings life and health to us as we speak out the promises we find there –
“Praise the Lord, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases.”
Psalm 103:1-3
Writing many years before Jesus, the Prophet Isaiah spoke of what He would achieve on the cross
“But he was wounded for our transgressions
he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”
Isaiah 53:5
This verse is quoted when Jesus was moving in healing power during His ministry.
“When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
“He took up our infirmities
and carried our diseases”
Matthew 8:16&17
And then we find these words again in the first letter of Peter –
“Who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness, by whose stripes we were healed.”
(1 Peter 2:24)
By His stripes, we WERE healed – Jesus has done it all on the cross, and we can claim that healing because of what He went through.
So then, take these healing verses and treasure them – ponder them in your heart, and take the Lord at His word –
“I am the Lord who heals you”
(Exodus 15:26)
